Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Water Board has started a 90-day special drive to stop sewage overflow in the city. On Monday, Managing Director Ashok Reddy visited several areas, including King Koti and Gowliguda, to check on the situation.
During his visit, some residents of Gowliguda complained about contaminated water supply in their area. In response, the managing director told workers to complete the necessary repairs as quickly as possible, even if it means working in two shifts. He emphasized that the work should be finished before December.
Officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) said that notices were given to build proper sewer connections to new buildings and multi-storey structures. In Sultan Bazaar, there is a sewage overflow issue, and there will be a temporary leak in a 1200 mm diameter pipeline for a few days. Repairs will start soon, and alternative water supply arrangements will be made during this time.
