Osmania University celebrated the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule on Thursday. Professor D. Ravinder, the vice chancellor of Osmania University, highlighted Phule’s contributions to socio-cultural reforms and social equality.
Dr. Chalamalla Venkateshwarlu, director of the OUBC Cell and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research Centre, mentioned that Phule fought for oppressed caste people in the Shudra Varna and supported the remarriage of upper-caste widows.
