Hyderabad: The Regional Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (RCUES) in Hyderabad welcomed Srinivas R. Katikathala, Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), and Dr. T.K. Sreedevi, Director of Municipal Administration, during their visit on Monday.
They focused on assessing current projects and exploring improvements in training programs for urban professionals and municipal officers nationwide. RCUES Hyderabad, a leading institution in urban management, specializes in training and policy learning to enhance services in urban areas.
Secretary Katikathala, along with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumar Molugaram and faculty, reviewed RCUES’s efforts in urban governance, municipal finance, sanitation, and smart city management. He stressed using innovative training methods and tech-driven learning to tackle urban development challenges.
He proposed a new Certificate Course with Osmania University to enhance skills in municipal management. This course aims to offer structured training in urban governance with certification for municipal officials and planners. He praised RCUES’s partnerships with academic and research bodies and promised MoHUA’s support for expanding digital learning and practical skills.
He also encouraged citizens to help create cleaner cities by reducing waste and using public transport. Prof. Kumar Molugaram highlighted the need for strong civic systems and RCUES’s dedication to training municipal officials, vital for better governance in rapidly growing cities.
