Hyderabad Calls for an Inclusive and Prosperous Indo-Pacific Region

The US Consulate General Kolkata, the US Department of State, and CUTS International organized a workshop called ‘Dialogues on “Deliverables to Deliveries”‘ in Hyderabad. The workshop aimed to facilitate dialogue between experts and participants regarding the US-India Defence and Security Partnership. The workshop had two sessions that focused on sharing good practices between the USA and India in the development of advanced defence technologies. The discussions also considered evolving geopolitical developments in the Indo-Pacific region.

During the workshop, Jennifer Larson, Consul General of the US Consulate in Hyderabad, highlighted the progress in the US-India defence relationship. She mentioned that the US has become a major supplier of defence equipment to India over the last two decades, and the bilateral defence trade between the two countries has grown substantially. Larson also noted that US aerospace companies have established partnerships with Indian counterparts, contributing to indigenous defence production capabilities.

Larson discussed the increase in joint military exercises and cooperation between the US and India, particularly in disaster relief efforts. She emphasized the importance of joint service exercises in enhancing coordination between the navies of both countries.

The workshop also explored opportunities for high-tech defence innovation, cyber and industrial collaboration, threat assessments, and regional trends. Given the significance of the Indo-Pacific region, discussions focused on strategic cooperation and interoperability between the navies of India and the USA in crucial geostrategic domains, as well as potential collaboration in the Indian Ocean.
