Hyderabad faces havoc as rain causes widespread damage

Heavy rain brought relief from the hot weather in Telangana, including Hyderabad, causing damage to crops. Flooding and traffic jams occurred in many areas of the city. The IMD issued an orange alert for more rain in the coming days, with several districts experiencing heavy rainfall.

Tragically, two people were killed by lightning in Rajanna-Siricilla district, and many trees were uprooted. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy held a meeting to address the situation and instructed all relevant departments to take necessary actions.

In Hyderabad, heavy rain for two hours caused flooding and traffic congestion. Some areas recorded significant rainfall, leading to difficulties for commuters. A nala collapsed in Banjara Hills Road No 11, but fortunately no injuries were reported. Historic markets like Lad Bazar and Mir Alam Mandi were also affected.

The GHMC responded to over 60 complaints of water stagnation and fallen trees, urging people to be cautious and avoid dangerous areas during the rain. Helpline numbers were provided for assistance.
