Hyderabad: The Lifeline Group of Hospitals in Hyderabad recently performed successful bariatric surgeries on two international patients in a single day. The patients, sisters aged 36 and 29, weighed 106.6 kg and 91.8 kg. Both faced severe health issues due to their extreme obesity.
Dr. JS Rajkumar, the hospital’s Chairman and Chief Surgeon, along with Dr. Anirudh Rajkumar, a Senior Bariatric Surgeon and Joint Managing Director, led these surgeries last Tuesday. Both procedures went smoothly without any complications.
Dr. JS Rajkumar emphasized the urgency of treating obesity, calling it a “ticking time bomb” that can trigger heart attacks, uncontrolled blood pressure, kidney problems, and other dangerous health issues. He advocated bariatric and metabolic surgery as proven methods for those with a high BMI who struggle to lose weight through traditional means.
Following the surgery, the sisters experienced significant health improvements. They noticed reductions in high blood pressure, sleep apnea, fatty liver, and joint pain. Dr. Anirudh Rajkumar remarked that this success marks the beginning of a healthier life for the sisters, with ongoing weight loss and enhanced overall health expected in the coming months.
