    Hyderabad: A young boy was locked up and beaten by supermarket staff in Ibrahimpatnam, a suburb of Hyderabad, on Tuesday. The staff suspected that the boy had stolen a chocolate from the store.

    Police said the boy had gone to the supermarket in the afternoon to buy some snacks. The staff accused him of stealing a chocolate, locked him in a storage room, and then beat him. The boy, who is from Nalgonda district, is a Class IX student at BC Welfare Gurukul School in Manchal, Ibrahimpatnam.

    When the school warden and teachers found out about the incident, they reported it to the Ibrahimpatnam police. The police have registered a case and arrested five people involved in the assault.

    The boy was taken to the hospital for treatment. A senior officer said that he is now in stable condition.
