Hyderabad experienced a busy day at the Nehru Zoological Park on December 25, with a record 23,440 visitors taking advantage of the Christmas holiday to explore the zoo.
To ensure a seamless experience, authorities positioned officers throughout the park. They also set up drinking water stations and increased security to assist guests.
The zoo management organized educational talk shows with animal caretakers and snake awareness sessions to enhance visitors’ understanding of wildlife.
J Vasantha, the curator of the zoo, expressed plans to draw more visitors by introducing new animals like zebras, meerkats, serval cats, barasinghas, and white swans. These additions come from a species exchange program with other zoos in the country.
Currently, the Nehru Zoological Park is home to 199 species from various parts of the world, according to Vasantha.
