Hyderabad police have arrested a notorious criminal, Battula Prabhakar, also known as Rahut Reddy, after a raid on his residence. During the search, officers recovered 128 bullets. Madhapur DCP Vineeth shared that the operation was conducted based on information Prabhakar provided during interrogation. The investigation has revealed shocking details about his long history of criminal activities.

    Escape and Arrest

Prabhakar, a habitual offender from Chittoor district, managed to escape police custody on March 22. He was being taken to the Anakapalli court in Andhra Pradesh for a hearing at the time. Since his escape, he had been evading capture.

Last night, police tracked him down near Prism Pub in Gachibowli. When officers attempted to arrest him, Prabhakar resisted and opened fire. During the altercation, Head Constable Venkat Reddy was injured, sustaining a bullet wound to his leg. Despite the confrontation, police overpowered Prabhakar and arrested him. They seized two guns and 23 bullets from his possession during the arrest.

    Criminal History and Methods

Prabhakar has a long history of criminal activity, with nearly 80 cases registered against him across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh—68 in Telangana and 12 in Andhra Pradesh. He is one of the most wanted criminals in both states and has also committed crimes in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka.

In the early days of his criminal career, Prabhakar primarily targeted residential areas for theft. However, he later shifted to burglarizing schools on the outskirts of cities, believing they posed a lower risk. He carefully planned his crimes, conducting reconnaissance before carrying them out.

Prabhakar also used YouTube tutorials to learn how to escape police custody and avoid capture. During a previous stint in jail, he developed a personal vendetta against another inmate. After his release, he collaborated with criminals he met in prison and acquired a gun from Bihar to settle the score.

    Police Crackdown

DCP Vineeth stated that police are working to identify and arrest individuals who helped Prabhakar acquire weapons and commit crimes. So far, he has been arrested in 66 cases. Over the past eight months, Prabhakar started using firearms, making him a more dangerous threat.

The police have intensified their investigation into his criminal network. They are determined to ensure that everyone involved in his activities is brought to justice.
