Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has successfully cleared illegal structures from two parks in Bandlaguda Jagir, located in Ranga Reddy district.
The operation reclaimed 4,400 square yards of parkland, resolving a long-standing issue. Initially, the parks were designated in 1989 as part of the P&T colony under survey numbers 96/2 and 96/3. The original layout included two parks, one measuring 1,200 square yards and the other 3,200 square yards.
Encroachers had blocked development for years and even disrupted attempts by the Bandlaguda Jagir Municipality to build a boundary wall around the parks.
Frustrated residents turned to HYDRAA for help. Following orders from HYDRAA Commissioner A V Ranganath, officials investigated with support from local revenue and municipal teams.
After confirming the encroachments, HYDRAA teams removed the unauthorized structures on Thursday. They fenced off the areas and posted signs identifying the land as a ‘Reserved Park Area’.
Residents of the colony celebrated this achievement, viewing it as a much-awaited triumph for community spaces. They expressed gratitude to Commissioner Ranganath and the HYDRAA team for restoring the parks and preserving green areas.
