Imam Ali’s martyrdom commemorated through Shia rallies

Hyderabad witnessed solemn mourning processions and religious gatherings on Wednesday to commemorate the martyrdom day of Hazrat Imam Ali. Thousands of Shias, including women and children, took part in various processions across the city. The processions passed through significant locations such as Charminar, Pathergatti, Madina circle, Chatta Bazar, Purani Haveli, DarulShifa, and culminated at Chaderghat. The participants, dressed in black, beat their chests and inflicted self-injury as they started their journey from Charminar after the installation of Alam Mubarak. The main procession began at Charminar and concluded at Masjid-e-Imamiya in Chaderghat. Hazrat Ali, also known as Ali ibn Abu Talib, was the son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad and regarded as the first Imam by Shias. His martyrdom day falls on the 21st day of Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
