IndiGo flight 6E6115, travelling from Delhi to Chennai, diverted to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on 11 October after a passenger’s power bank caught fire onboard, according to reports.

The aircraft, an Airbus A321neo registered as VT-NOE, departed Delhi at about 1.13–1.14 pm IST. Flight-tracking data shows it diverted to Hyderabad and landed there safely, with reported arrival times ranging from about 3.13 pm to 3.59 pm IST.

Reports said cabin crew used onboard firefighting equipment to put out the flames. All passengers were reported safe. A video circulating on social media appeared to show flames and smoke inside the cabin as passengers stood and moved around.

The exact location and cause of the fire, and whether anyone suffered minor injuries, were not confirmed in the reports. The incident was under investigation.

The diversion follows another power-bank fire involving an IndiGo flight in May 2026. Flight 6E108, travelling from Hyderabad to Chandigarh, required an emergency evacuation after landing; several passengers were reported injured.

DGCA rules require power banks to be carried in cabin baggage, prohibit their use or charging during a flight, and advise passengers not to place them in overhead bins. At the time of the reports, no widely published statement from IndiGo or the DGCA specifically addressing the 11 October diversion was available.
