Interpol commends DCA for effectively monitoring counterfeit drugs

The INTERPOL praised the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana for their efforts in preventing the distribution of counterfeit drugs. According to DCA DG V B Kamalasan Reddy, the Interpol was made aware of the drug rackets busted by DCA in Hyderabad. The Interpol congratulated DCA for successfully detecting and seizing spurious drugs in the city.

On December 29, DCA uncovered a counterfeit drug racket involving fake antibiotics, hypertension and cholesterol medicines, and analgesics. These drugs were falsely labeled under the names of reputable companies such as Sun Pharma, Glenmark Pharma, Aristo Pharmaceuticals, Torrent Pharma, and a fictitious/non-existent company. The drugs were shipped to Hyderabad from Kashipur, Uttarakhand, and DCA seized stocks worth Rs 26 lakh. On January 3, DCA also busted a counterfeit antibiotics racket, where fake antibiotics were being shipped to Telangana from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. DCA seized fake antibiotics worth Rs 22.95 lakh during raids in Uppal and Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad.

Furthermore, on January 12, DCA Telangana issued an advisory to raise public awareness about spurious drugs.
