JNTUH hosts anti-drug awareness event

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) and University College of Engineering Science and Technology Hyderabad (UCESTH) held an anti-drug program on Tuesday. The event marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26.

Abhish Chakrabarty, the Superintendent of the Narcotics Control Bureau for the Hyderabad Zone, was the main speaker. He talked to students about the dangers of drug abuse. He explained how drugs can harm the body, weaken the immune system, and cause mental health issues. He also mentioned mood swings, social withdrawal, loss of jobs or education, possible jail time or fines, and financial problems.

Chakrabarty informed attendees about assistance available for addicts from both Central and State Governments. The College Principal, Prof. G.V. Narasimha Reddy, stressed the need for students to understand the international drug trade and the difficulties in controlling it. His key message was clear: “Say ‘No’ to Drugs.”
