GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan and Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner B. Santosh reviewed plans for a 4.3-kilometre elevated corridor from Jubilee Hills Check Post to NFCL Junction in Hyderabad. The project has been approved at a cost of Rs 1,090 crore.
The proposed corridor will be a six-lane, two-way steel flyover. It is designed to provide signal-free travel across five major junctions along the route.
Karnan said the plan changed after the one-way traffic system around KBR Park was implemented. Instead of building separate underpasses, officials opted for one elevated corridor to address congestion between NFCL Junction and the KBR Park entrance.
Officials said the project will be carried out in two phases under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode. They said advanced steel technology will be used to speed up construction.
Package 1 will cover the stretch from Jubilee Hills Check Post to Mugdha Junction. It has an estimated cost of Rs 580 crore.
Package 2 will run from Mugdha Junction to Muffakham Jah College and include a dedicated ramp to Banjara Hills Road No. 1. The package is budgeted at Rs 510 crore.
