Rakul Preet Singh has denied being connected to recent Income Tax Department searches in Mumbai. The actor said the search operation was not related to her.
Her clarification follows reports that tax officials searched 12 locations linked to filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani, Panorama Studios and others. The searches were reportedly part of an inquiry into suspected financial irregularities and alleged overseas fund transfers linked to film projects.
In a statement shared on social media on Monday, Rakul said, “the IT search was not pertaining to me”. She added that she has paid her taxes since the age of 20 and described herself as a law-abiding citizen.
The actor also denied involvement in illegal foreign remittances, either personally or on behalf of a production house. She said she does not hold benami property for anyone in India or abroad.
Rakul rejected claims that anyone had gifted her property, saying she does not accept expensive gifts as a matter of principle. She urged publishers that linked her to the alleged financial irregularities to retract the reports and clarify the facts, noting that such claims could harm a person’s reputation and livelihood.
She restated her position in the social media statement: “the IT search was not pertaining to me”.
