    Former US President Donald Trump’s arraignment on criminal charges in a Manhattan state court will not be broadcast by news cameras, according to New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan. While five photographers will be allowed to take pictures of Trump and the courtroom before the hearings, media outlets’ pleas to broadcast the proceedings were rejected. Judge Merchan acknowledged the significant public interest in the case but said that media access to the courtroom must be “weighed against competing interests”. Trump’s lawyers had urged the judge to reject the media’s request for cameras in the courtroom.
