On April 29, a 10-year-old girl fell into an open drain in Secunderabad because of negligence from the city’s authorities. Despite attempts from the Disaster Response Force to save her, she passed away. The next day, a constable died from electrocution due to a possible electrical leakage from a nearby pole. A six-year-old boy also drowned after falling into a pit filled with rainwater. While the GHMC denies responsibility for the third incident, Mohammed Shabbir Ali, a former minister and senior Congress leader, argues that the government still has a duty to protect its citizens from such hazards. He criticizes the State government and Municipal Administration Minister K Tarakarama Rao for their negligence and failure to address infrastructure issues that could have prevented these tragedies. Shabbir Ali has written an open letter to KTR calling for accountability and demanding that he takes responsibility for these incidents. He also asked for a review meeting to address infrastructure problems and prevent future tragedies.
