    The Kanti Velugu programme has finished after 100 days of eye screenings in 24 out of 33 districts in Telangana, as instructed by Health Minister T Harish Rao. There was a celebration at the Secretariat to mark the success of the initiative. The Kanti Velugu programme aims to prevent blindness in Telangana. People have been offered free eye examinations and spectacles, and 161 million people across the State have been screened. Over 40 lakh individuals, 25.1% of those screened, had problems with their eyes. 22.51 lakh people received free reading glasses, while 18.08 lakh people were given prescription glasses for free. The remaining nine districts will now be screened to ensure the success of the programme across Telangana. The scheme was launched with the aim of eliminating eye-related issues and promoting the well-being of every citizen.
