    Medical colleges in 8 other districts

    Minister Harish Rao has ordered to establish government medical colleges in 25 districts out of the total 33 districts in the state. He has directed the officials to submit proposals for the establishment of medical colleges in the remaining 8 districts. Chief Minister KCR has expressed his commitment to fulfill the resolution of CMRF to establish a medical college in each district. A meeting was held on Friday at the Secretariat with senior officials and the Minister reviewed the progress. It was decided to start the process of starting medical colleges in the eight districts. The aim is to start 21 colleges in a short period of time and create a record in the country.

    Better healthcare services for the people

    The Minister mentioned that all necessary measures are being taken by the government to provide better healthcare services to the people. The Health Department officials, authorities, and related departments have been instructed to provide services more efficiently and fulfill their responsibilities. According to the central government statistics, Telangana's healthcare system is remarkable and the state stands in a leading position. CM KCR has expressed his desire to make Telangana number one in the field of health. Health Secretary Rizvi, Commissioner of Family Welfare Shwetha Mahanti, DME Ramesh Reddy, DHS Srinivas Rao, TVVP Commissioner Ajay Kumar, Arogyasri CEO Vishalachchi, TSMIDC MD Chandrasekhar Reddy, and others were present at the review.

    Screening completed in 24 districts

    As part of the program, on Friday alone, examinations were conducted for 1.61 crore people in 99 working days. Among them, 40.59 lakh people were identified with visual problems and were provided with reading/prescription glasses. Screening has been completed in a total of 24 districts so far. The Minister expressed satisfaction with this development. CM KCR emphasized that no individual in the state should suffer from visual problems and launched the Kanti Velugu program. Many people are suffering from severe visual problems due to negligence and lack of awareness, he said. Therefore, CM KCR launched the second phase of the Kanti Velugu program. The Minister congratulated the successful conduct of the eye camps. He expressed gratitude to the cooperation of other departments and thanked the representatives.

    Examinations conducted: 1.61 crore

    People with visual problems: 40.59 lakh

    Reading glasses provided: 22.51 lakh

    Prescription glasses provided: 18.08 lakh
