The Bathukamma festival, a famous flower festival in Telangana, was celebrated with great joy across the Karimnagar district. Bathukamma festivities lasted for nine days, starting from Petramavasya. Women and young people participated enthusiastically. The festival ended two days ago with the immersion of Bathukammas in Vemulawada Sircilla. The final day, known as Saddula Bathukamma, was also celebrated in places like Jagtial, Peddapalli, and Ramagundam.

On the ninth day, which was Wednesday, Saddula Bathukamma was celebrated with beautifully arranged Bathukammas in village squares. Women gathered to sing traditional songs and dance around the flower arrangements, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the festival. The celebrations began with Engilipula Bathukamma and continued with enthusiasm throughout the day.

Many newly married women returned to their maternal homes from their in-laws’ houses to celebrate Bathukamma. Dressed in new clothes, they sang songs that represented Telangana’s culture. The festival was celebrated with great excitement across Karimnagar town, in neighborhoods like Chaitanyapuri, Kapuwada Bhagatnagar, Vidyanagar, and Ramnagar.

Several officials and leaders also took part in the celebrations. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar participated in the Bathukamma festivities at the Mahashakti Temple. Other officials, including District Collector Pamela Satpathy, Karimnagar Police Commissioner Abhishek Mahanthi, City Mayor Sunil Rao, and Deputy Mayor Chella Swaruparani Harishankar, helped organize the event. They arranged for lights, installed 9,000 temporary street lights, and set up 20 immersion spots. The arrangements, which included cleaning the immersion areas, cost Rs 2.20 crore.
