The Energy Minister of Karnataka, K J George, responded to allegations from BRS that the Congress government had not resolved power-related issues in the state. George said that the issue had only lasted for a few days during the monsoon season and accused BRS of blowing it out of proportion.

During a media interaction at Gandhi Bhavan, George explained that some power plants in Karnataka had to be shut down temporarily for maintenance work during the monsoon. He blamed the previous BJP government for not increasing the installed power capacity during their term. George stated that the Congress government had made efforts to overcome the temporary power crisis.

The Minister criticized BRS for politicizing the issue and clarified that maximum power was supplied whenever farmers requested it. He assured that the problem was resolved within five to ten days during the monsoon. In October, MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha had also raised concerns about the power supply, questioning the Congress’s promise of 20-hour power supply and suggesting that they were trying to transfer their problems to Telangana.
