BRS MLC K Kavitha, who is currently under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate, has submitted her old mobile phones to the probe agency to dispel allegations that she had destroyed them. Kavitha strongly objected to the false accusations made against her and her party, stating that they were damaging her reputation. Before going to the ED office, Kavitha showed two packets containing the mobile phones to party activists who had gathered at her father’s official residence in Delhi.

In a letter to Assistant Director Joginder, Kavitha questioned how the agency had concluded that she had destroyed the mobiles. She clarified that the phones were being submitted without prejudice to her rights and contentions, including her right to privacy. Kavitha also pointed out that she was summoned by the ED for the first time in March 2023, and hence, the accusations made against her in November 2022 were not only mala fide and misconceived but also prejudicial.

Kavitha expressed her disappointment with the deliberate leakage of false accusations to the public, which had led to a political slugfest. She accused her political adversaries of attempting to damage her reputation and defame her as well as the BRS in the public. Kavitha further stated that it was unfortunate that a premier agency like the Enforcement Directorate was becoming a privy and party to these acts and sabotaging its sacrosanct duty of free and fair investigation at the altar of vested political interest.
