In Hyderabad, rumors are swirling that some BRS leaders, including MPs, are being approached by Congress to switch parties. To prevent this, party leader K Chandrashekar Rao is working to keep the leaders from leaving.
Sources say both Congress and BJP have been trying to recruit BRS leaders, especially MPs, ahead of the Lok Sabha election. The BRS chief has held meetings with senior leaders and asked KT Rama Rao and Harish Rao to speak with the leaders. Peddapally MP B Venkatesh Netha has already joined Congress in the presence of CM Revanth Reddy and other leaders.
It is rumored that Zaheerabad MP BB Patil has been approached by BJP and may run on their ticket in the upcoming elections. Another BRS leader, G Nagesh, is also being persuaded by BJP to run for office. BJP is considering replacing current candidate Soyam Bapu Rao in Adilabad with Nagesh or Ramesh Rathod.
Congress is also trying to attract BRS MPs like M Srinivas Reddy, M Kavitha, and K Ramulu to their party as part of ‘Operation Akarsh’. The CM has assigned MLAs in the districts to work on this effort. It remains to be seen whether BRS leaders will defect or stay with the party.
