Chityal (Nalgonda): Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, the Minister for Roads and Buildings, shared on Saturday that the tender process for the northern segment of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) will start within two months. The construction is expected to begin by January 2026, with tenders finalized by this December. This 161.5-km six-lane road will pass through Sangareddy, Narsapur, Toopran, Gajwel, Jagdevpur, Bhongir, and Choutuppal.
Speaking to journalists, Komatireddy criticized the previous BRS government for ignoring the RRR project, despite its approval by the Centre in 2017-18. He stated that when he assumed office, only 6% of land was acquired, but now it exceeds 98%. He noted that the KCR government lacked interest in this vital project. A budget of Rs 6,000 crore has been allocated for land acquisition, shared equally by the State and the Centre, with the State’s share already secured through HUDCO.
To reassure farmers, Komatireddy emphasized that the “RRR South Part” will proceed only with farmer consent. As a farmer’s son, he vowed to prevent any unfair treatment, promising that all, regardless of wealth, would be treated fairly in the RRR alignment.
He declared his commitment to defending the interests of Nalgonda and its farmers, asserting that a ministerial committee would be established after discussions with the Chief Minister to tackle land acquisition and alignment issues.
Komatireddy also mentioned that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari supports Telangana’s infrastructure initiatives, having approved the Gourelli – Bhadrachalam Highway and the LB Nagar – Malkapuram Road. The construction of the 8-lane Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway will begin by February 2026.
