The Koti Women’s College in Hyderabad, which recently became Telangana MahilaViswavidyalayam, will be celebrating its centenary year next month. To mark the occasion, several year-long events have been planned.

The college was established in 1924 on September 3 in Koti. It was later moved to Golden Threshold in 1939 and then to its current location, the Koti Residency, in 1950. The college started with 63 acres of land, but some of it was given to the Osmania Medical College.

The college has a rich history of producing successful individuals in various fields. Notably, Rabindranath Tagore played a role in selecting the first woman faculty at the college. Aruna Gibbs, from Mysuru, was appointed to improve women’s education in the 1930s.
