During the Eliminator match at Chepauk, Quinton de Kock did not feature in the Lucknow Super Giants’ XI against Mumbai Indians. Some speculated that the South African player may have picked up an injury, but LSG skipper Krunal Pandya revealed that it was a strategic move to play Kyle Mayers, who had a better record at the particular venue. Mayers scored 18 off 13 balls, but LSG lost by 81 runs. Krunal took full responsibility for the loss and admitted that they did not play good cricket after the strategic break.
MI scored 182 for 8 in 20 overs and Lucknow Super Giants crumbled for a paltry 101 in 16.3 overs, thanks to Madhwal’s incredible figures of 3.3-0-5-5 and some terrific ground fielding led by skipper Rohit Sharma.
