    KTR | New Delhi: Minister KTR, the Minister of IT and Municipal Administration of the Telangana state government, has issued statements regarding various aspects related to the Ministry of Urban Development. He has requested the Central Government to approve the second phase extension of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, which includes a 26-kilometer stretch from L B Nagar to BHEL and a 5-kilometer stretch from Nagole to LB Nagar. KTR has also requested for financial assistance to be provided for these projects. He has submitted another proposal, suggesting the implementation of a special program for the construction of rural roads nationwide, to improve connectivity in rural areas.

    The Telangana State Government has informed that the construction work of 22 missing link roads in the Hyderabad city limits has been completed successfully. Additionally, KTR has stated that the construction work of another 17 roads is progressing well. In order to construct a total of 104 underpasses for the maintenance of arterial roads from Outering Road to municipal corporations, an estimated cost of Rs. 2,400 crores will be incurred. KTR has also mentioned that the Central Government should allocate approximately Rs. 800 crores for this project.

    In order to facilitate the purification and widening of roads in Hyderabad city, as well as the construction of transfer stations and other various programs under the Swachh Bharat Mission or other central government schemes, KTR has requested an economic assistance of Rs. 400 crores. Furthermore, for the construction of the International Airport Expressway, which requires an estimated cost of Rs. 3,050 crores, KTR has requested the central government to provide 15% of the funds, amounting to Rs. 450 crores. He has also requested for an allocation of Rs. 744 crores from the central government out of the total estimated cost of Rs. 3,722 crores for the construction of the proposed Elevated Bus Rapid Transit System (eBRTS) in Hyderabad city limits.

    The state government, as directed by the central government, has undertaken several programs such as bio-mining and setting up of waste management plants for the purification of the city and improvement of human settlements. For these programs being implemented in municipal corporations across the state, an estimated total cost of Rs. 3,777 crores will be incurred, out of which the central government will provide Rs. 750 crores for economic support.
