Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, the BRS working president, expressed strong disapproval of the government’s recent fare increase. He called the decision unfair to the residents of the twin cities.
The BRS leader criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy‘s administration for raising city bus fares in Hyderabad by ₹10. Rao accused the Congress government of targeting the poor and middle class with this move.
Rao described the fare hike as a severe blow, especially with rising costs of essential goods. He questioned how the poor and daily wage workers could manage with an extra ₹500 expense per month. He highlighted the burden of increased costs for student bus passes and T-24 ticket fares, criticizing Reddy’s decision to raise the minimum fare by 50% as a sign of poor governance.
He alleged that the Chief Minister is imposing a daily financial strain of nearly one crore rupees on citizens, showing increasing animosity towards Hyderabad residents. Rao claimed these actions were retaliatory, as the Congress party faced rejection in the last elections in the twin cities. He condemned the government’s free bus scheme for bankrupting RTC and warned that these decisions would have lasting negative impacts on the administration and Revanth Reddy.
