The National Dam Safety Authority has released a report highlighting issues with the construction of the Kaleshwaram project in Hyderabad. This has caused controversy ahead of the Telangana Assembly elections. IT Minister K T Rama Rao has responded by criticizing the report, stating that the project had already been approved by the Central Water Commission, which is under the Union government. He believes the report is politically motivated, especially considering its timing so close to the elections. Rama Rao also mentioned that the CWC had previously praised the project and it had even received an award in the United States.
In response to the alleged irregularities, the TPCC has written a letter to the President of India, requesting a CBI probe and repairs to the damaged barrages under central supervision.
