The atmosphere is filled with the sounds of priests chanting and Pothurajus drumming. There are lively dance shows and colorful parades featuring the goddess’s pots. The police work tirelessly, the temple is beautifully decorated, and political leaders are present, all contributing to the joyous festival scene.

Inside the temple, Chandi Devi and Bala Devi stand beside Mahakali. When the temple was built, an idol of Manikyalamma was found and placed next to Mahakali. Matamma sits across from her, and Veerabhadra Swamy is nearby. The temple courtyard, always filled with devotees, radiates a peaceful glow.

Traditionally, it is believed that during Ashada, the goddess visits her family home, bringing blessings. The decorated pots symbolizing the goddess are taken from house to house, where they receive prayers and offerings, spreading blessings in return. On the festival’s main day, Mahakali Mata shines brightly, like a beloved daughter returning home.

An important part of the festival is the prophecy by Jogini Swarnalatha. Every Monday, she performs the Rangam ceremony, channeling Mahakali’s voice. Her words are eagerly awaited by many, including state officials, who regard her messages with deep respect.
