Telangana to Use AI Technology to Improve School Education

The Telangana government has decided to use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the quality of education in schools. This move aims to enhance learning outcomes and provide better support to both students and teachers.

A team of officials from Telangana, including Dr. Yogita Rana (Secretary of Education), Krishna Aditya (Commissioner of Intermediate Education), and E.V. Narasimha Reddy (Director of School Education), visited the EkStep Foundation in Bengaluru on Thursday. The purpose of the visit was to study the organization’s expertise in using digital tools to boost education.

EkStep Foundation is already working with several states, such as Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu, to implement digital education programs. Telangana officials explored how these initiatives could be adapted to meet the needs of their own state.

During the visit, the Telangana team identified some key areas for collaboration. One of the main goals is to improve foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) among primary school students. This will involve using AI-driven tools to help children develop essential skills like reading, writing, and basic math.

Last month, the Telangana delegation also visited Kerala to learn about how the state has successfully integrated AI tools into its education system. Officials observed Kerala’s use of AI in its ICT curriculum and plan to adapt these practices to suit Telangana’s unique needs.
