The Telangana government has announced a significant administrative reshuffle affecting key positions across the state. The reorganization includes changes in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with all zonal commissioners being reassigned to new positions.
Jayesh Ranjan, a senior bureaucrat, has been appointed as Special Chief Secretary for Metropolitan Area and Urban Development. This appointment signals the government’s focus on urban development and metropolitan planning in the state.
The most notable aspect of this reshuffle is the complete reset of GHMC Zonal Commissioners across all 12 zones of Hyderabad. The new appointments bring a mix of experienced and relatively junior IAS officers to manage the city’s administrative zones.
In the Serilingampally zone, Hemanth Sahadeorao Borkhade, an IAS officer from the 2018 batch, has been appointed as the new Zonal Commissioner. The Kukatpally zone will now be headed by Apurv Chauhan, IAS (2020 batch).
Sandeep Kumar Jha, a 2014 batch IAS officer, takes charge of the Qutbullapur zone, while S. Srinivas Reddy has been assigned to the Charminar zone. The Golconda zone will be managed by G. Mukunda Reddy.
The Khairatabad zone has been assigned to Priyanka Ala, IAS (2016 batch), and Anurag Jayanti, from the 2015 batch, will oversee the Rajendranagar zone. N. Ravi Kiran takes charge of the Secunderabad zone.
K. Chandrakala, currently serving as Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) of Chevella, has been appointed as Zonal Commissioner for Shamshabad. The LB Nagar zone will be headed by Hemanta Keshav Patil, IAS (2019 batch).
The newest IAS officers have also been included in this reshuffle. Sanchit Gangwar, from the 2021 batch, takes charge of Malkajgiri zone, while Radhika Gupta, also from the 2021 batch, has been appointed as Zonal Commissioner for the Uppal zone.
This comprehensive administrative reorganization reflects the state government’s strategy to bring fresh perspectives and energy to urban governance across Hyderabad’s diverse zones. The appointments include officers from various batches, ranging from 2014 to 2021, ensuring a blend of experience and new ideas in municipal administration.
