The three main parties are campaigning hard in the Malkajgiri Assembly constituency. Voters are urging the candidates to prioritize long-standing civic issues in the area.

During the candidates’ campaign, locals brought up several concerns regarding the development of the constituency. They believe that Malkajgiri has been neglected and they want to see improvements in infrastructure, such as the construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) or Rail Under Bridge (RUB), the development of parks, and the laying of new roads.

All political parties have started campaigning aggressively. The Congress and BRS are expected to have a tough fight in this constituency, as the sitting MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao from the Congress has a strong support base. The BRS candidate Marri Rajashekhar Reddy and BJP candidate Ramchander Rao also have their own traditional vote banks. Malkajgiri is the largest Lok Sabha constituency in terms of voters, with 3.15 lakh people. The constituency includes neighborhoods like Malkajgiri, Safilguda, Moula Ali, Vinayak Nagar, Kakatiya Nagar, East Anandbagh, Gowtham Nagar, Neredmet, Sainikpuri, and Alwal.

A resident of Malkajgiri named Robin Zaccheus said that this time things will be different. They will vote for the party that promises to address the long-standing demands of the constituency. These demands include the development of RK Puram Lake, overall infrastructure improvements like schools, colleges, roads, and rail connectivity. They have been urging political parties to prioritize these issues and will ensure that once they come to power, these issues are addressed.

BT Srinivasam, the general secretary of the Federation of Malkajgiri Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), stated that the main failure in Malkajgiri is the lack of proper development. They are demanding wider roads, MMTS and metro rail network improvements, and the long-pending construction of RUBs at Malkajgiri and Alwal. They have approached the candidates and requested that these demands be included as the main agenda.
