Hyderabad: Police in Rachakonda have cracked the shocking Medipally murder case. They arrested a man for killing his 21-year-old pregnant wife and dismembering her body before dumping it in the River Musi at Pratap Singaram.
The suspect, Samala Mahender Reddy, 27, from East Balaji Hills, Boduppal, originally from Vikarabad district, worked as a Rapido rider. He married B Swathi in January last year at Arya Samaj, Kukatpally.
PV Padmaja, DCP Malkajgiri, stated that after marriage, the couple moved to Hyderabad, living in Boduppal. They were happy for about a month before frequent fights began due to family issues. On April 22, 2024, Swathi filed a complaint at WPS Vikarabad, leading to a case under Section 498-A IPC and Section 4 of the DP Act. Village elders intervened, leading to a compromise.
The couple then settled in a rented house in Boduppal. Swathi worked for three months at Ebex Call Centre, Punjagutta. Mahender, however, suspected her movements and stopped her from working. In March 2025, Swathi became five months pregnant. On August 22, she told Mahender about plans to visit Vikarabad for a medical check-up and stay with her parents. Mahender objected, leading to an argument. That day, he decided to kill her.
Mahender bought a blade in Boduppal, keeping it ready at home. On August 23, around 4:30 pm, he strangled Swathi. To destroy evidence, he cut her body into pieces, threw her head, hands, and legs into the Musi River, and kept the torso in his room, DCP Padmaja disclosed.
