A senior government official died in Hyderabad on Tuesday after being critically injured in a car crash involving a politician’s convoy two days earlier.
Karunakar, who served as director of Gangadhara Market Committee, lost his life following the accident that occurred on November 23 near Pudur in Kodimial mandal of Jagtial district.
The fatal collision happened when Medipalli Satyam’s convoy struck Karunakar’s vehicle. Satyam is the Congress MLA representing the Choupadandi constituency.
At the time of the accident, the MLA was traveling to Kondagattu temple to perform religious ceremonies.
Emergency responders immediately transported the injured official to a nearby hospital in Jagtial. Medical staff later transferred him to a specialized facility in Hyderabad for advanced treatment.
Despite receiving medical care at the Hyderabad hospital, Karunakar’s condition deteriorated and he passed away from his injuries sustained in the convoy collision.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety involving official convoys and their impact on civilian traffic in the region.
