Mancherial MLA Prem Sagar Rao left Taj Krishna Hotel upset on Thursday after meeting with AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge. Rao was among several legislators hoping for Cabinet positions but were not included in the recent expansion.
Kharge, visiting Hyderabad for the ‘Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri’ event on Friday, called the dissatisfied leaders to explain the party’s stance. He offered Rao the role of Chief Whip, but Rao declined and left, ignoring efforts by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to calm him down.
Rao, an experienced politician, has aimed for a Cabinet role since winning the Assembly elections. In 2024, he emphasized the need for fairness in awarding senior positions, saying, “As a senior leader, I am hopeful of being appointed as a minister.” His refusal of the Chief Whip role shows his strong desire for a ministerial post.
