Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi was invited to speak at the 2nd World Forum on Urban Forests in Washington, D.C. She discussed the initiatives taken in Hyderabad, particularly focusing on the “Telanganaku Haritha Haram” project and the greening efforts by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

The Mayor shared the success story of “Telanganaku Haritha Haram”, which aims to increase green cover in Telangana State by planting millions of trees and promoting sustainable environmental practices. She also highlighted the GHMC’s greening initiatives, such as afforestation drives, vertical gardening, and eco-friendly waste management practices. These efforts have not only made the city more beautiful but also helped mitigate the effects of climate change.
