    The Khammam Two Wheeler Mechanics Association cares for its members by providing social security. Each member contributes Rs 100 to a common pool, and there are around 5,000 bike mechanics in Khammam district. The common fund helps with contingencies, such as extending financial assistance up to Rs 10,000 for children’s education and giving a gift of Rs 10,000 towards the marriage of a member’s daughter. If a girl child is born, a fixed deposit of Rs 11,116 is made in the name of the child.

    The association also offers financial aid in case of emergencies, such as Rs 20,000 in the case of electric short-circuits at mechanic shops and Rs 10,000 for medical expenses if a member gets into a road accident or needs surgery procedures such as for heart. When a mechanic passes away, the association extends financial aid of Rs 70,000, and when a mechanic attains 60 years, Rs 30,000 will be given besides felicitating the couple.

    The association has rendered financial assistance in various forms amounting to Rs 15 lakh so far. The Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar is also helping members receive an assistance up to Rs 20 lakh under the CMRF scheme.
