Hyderabad: Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced the completion of the master plan for the Medaram Jatara, often called the Telangana Kumbh Mela. This plan includes modernizing the Sammakka Saralamma area and upgrading facilities for devotees while respecting tribal traditions.
Once Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy approves the plan, work will begin immediately, aiming for completion in 100 days. The plan was developed scientifically, incorporating advice from Saralamma priests, to ensure a better experience for the many devotees visiting the Medaram Maha Jatara from across the country.
The master plan aims to ease the experience for pilgrims visiting Ammavaru. Panchayat Raj Minister Dhanasri Anasuya (Seethakka) and Tribal Welfare Minister A Laxman Kumar joined Srinivasa Reddy in reviewing the plan at the State Secretariat.
Discussions focused on the temple’s main entrance design, the stone for the boundary wall, and expanding the temple’s area. The consultancy responsible for the plan must submit the development action plan within two days.
Officials and consultants visited Medaram to gather input from priests and locals, ensuring the temple design meets their needs. Previously, long queues made it difficult for devotees to view Pagidda Raja and Govinda Raju during the Maha Jatara. To address this, the shrine areas will be expanded.
Srinivasa Reddy highlighted that the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara is the world’s largest tribal festival, embodying tribal culture. Devotees revere Sammakka Saralamma as divine figures who alleviate their hardships. The temple’s design emphasizes their sacrifice and significance, and beautification efforts will extend to all nearby temples.
