Hyderabad: Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) has started building new facilities for Osmania General Hospital at the Goshamahal Police Stadium.
During the Dasara festival, MEIL Projects’ President, K Govardhan Reddy, conducted religious ceremonies to kick off the construction. Earlier this year, on January 31, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for this significant project. The construction officially began today and is expected to finish in 30 months. The hospital will be built on 26 acres with a total area of 32 lakh sq. ft., offering 2,000 beds. The development will include a hospital block, academic areas, hostels, a dharamshala, and various utility buildings. A two-level basement will provide parking for 1,500 cars.
The complex will feature 29 major and 12 minor operation theaters, a helipad, and state-of-the-art facilities such as robotic surgery units and transplant centers. Additionally, there will be sewage treatment and biomedical waste management plants. The plan includes colleges for nursing, dental, and physiotherapy. The design incorporates rooftop gardens and ventilation systems to ensure a pleasant environment for patients.
Govardhan Reddy promised the project would be completed on schedule. He highlighted that the new facilities will match top private hospitals, with advanced technology and modern infrastructure, including robotic surgery, a helipad, and eco-friendly terrace gardens.
