Minister Uttam Kumar attends Peddagattu Jatara and offers prayers

Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy visited the Peddagattu Jatara at Durajpally in Suryapet district on Monday. He offered prayers at the Lingamantula Swamy temple and participated in religious rituals.

Upon his arrival, the temple committee welcomed him and honored him with traditional offerings. He also took part in the Bhairi (Bhery) drumming ceremony and performed special prayers at the temple. Uttam thanked Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for approving ₹5 crore to help conduct the festival smoothly.

Speaking to the media, Uttam highlighted the importance of the Jatara, which has been celebrated since the 16th century. He instructed officials to ensure that devotees do not face any difficulties during the event. To check the arrangements, he personally inspected drinking water facilities, sanitation, medical services, security, and power supply.

Since around 20 lakh devotees are expected to attend, authorities have made traffic diversions on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway to avoid congestion. Heavy vehicles are restricted near the Jatara venue, and extra police personnel and surveillance cameras have been deployed to manage the crowd effectively.
