Hyderabad: BRS MLA Mainampally Hanmantha Rao claimed that Chief Minister KCR had initially encouraged him to bring his son into politics, but now he has denied him a ticket. Speaking at an event in Malkajgiri, Rao clarified that he is still a BRS MLA and has always followed the party’s direction.

Rao recounted that CM KCR had asked him to involve his son in politics when he saw him at the inauguration of the Medchal Collectorate. With the CM’s support, his son began working on public welfare programs in Medak through Mynampalli Seva Sanstha. Rao declared that he will visit the Vijayawada Kanakadurgamma temple before making any decisions.

The Malkajgiri BRS legislator made headlines when he criticized Finance Minister T Harish Rao, accusing him of engaging in widespread corruption. He threatened to expose Harish Rao and received support from BRS leaders KT Rama Rao and MLC K Kavitha. As the BRS chief prepared to announce the first list of candidates, Hanumanth Rao criticized Harish Rao for hindering the development of the old Medak district through group politics. He questioned Harish Rao’s involvement in ticket allocation, asserting that he will contest from Malkajgiri while his son will contest from Medak Assembly constituency.

Rao’s son Rohit Rao had aspirations to secure a ticket from Medak, but Padma Devendar Reddy, a staunch supporter of Harish Rao in Medak district, currently holds the seat. The BRS MLA warned that he will demonstrate his power and influence in Harish Rao’s Assembly segment of Siddipet, where he has consistently won with a significant majority since 2004. He further alleged that Harish Rao has accumulated Rs 1 lakh crore by embezzling public funds.

She expressed confidence that the people of Telangana will have unwavering faith in CM KCR and the effective governance of the BRS party in the upcoming Assembly elections.
