A mobile science exhibition called Gene-Health Connect has been launched in Hyderabad. The exhibition was launched by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in collaboration with the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum to mark World Thalassemia Day. The bus has 20 exhibits and will travel to science, medical and pharmacy colleges, and high schools in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the next seven months. The exhibition aims to educate young people on genetic diseases and how they can be managed and prevented. Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan attended the event and said that creating awareness on genetics is important, especially among young people. The exhibition hopes to remove social stigma attached to genetic testing.
