Gadwal: Farmers in the Alampur constituency have received some good news. Nagar Kurnool MP Dr. Mallu Ravi has approved a project to link the RDS Canal to the Chinnonipalli Reservoir. This move is expected to solve many of the irrigation problems that local farmers have been facing due to irregular rainfall and poor water supply.
The approval for the project came during a meeting with irrigation department officials on Friday. MP Mallu Ravi explained that the RDS Canal, an important water source for farmers, will now be connected to the nearby Chinnonipalli Reservoir, which is only three kilometers away. This connection will help provide more water for irrigation, especially to those depending on the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS).
For years, farmers in the region have relied on the Mallamma Kunta Project, which often couldn’t meet their water needs. Now, the new Chinnonipalli Link Canal is expected to provide much more water and help irrigate a larger area of farmland. Irrigation officials believe that this canal will be ten times more beneficial than the older project.
In another positive development, MP Mallu Ravi also announced plans to develop the Nettampadu Link Canal. This additional canal will further strengthen the region’s irrigation system and help even more farmers.
Speaking to the media, MP Mallu Ravi said these two projects will greatly improve farming in the area. He added that these efforts are not just for immediate relief but also aim to ensure long-term success and prosperity for farmers.
The farming community in Alampur is celebrating the announcement. In several villages, farmers have planned a “Milk Abhishekam” — a ritual where milk is poured as an offering — to thank MP Mallu Ravi for his help. Many farmers have called this a “game-changing” decision.
This move has also been seen as a political win for MP Mallu Ravi. By addressing one of the most serious issues in the region — water shortage — he has gained appreciation from his constituents. Political experts believe this could improve his chances in the upcoming elections.
The new canal projects are expected to bring many benefits, including better crop yields, less dependence on rainfall, and improved farming methods. With a steady water supply, farmers will be able to grow more crops and earn more income.
Overall, MP Mallu Ravi’s decision to link the RDS Canal to the Chinnonipalli Reservoir and develop the Nettampadu Canal is a major step forward for agriculture in the region. Farmers, local leaders, and officials believe these projects will bring lasting improvements to the lives and livelihoods of people in Alampur.
