Hyderabad: People living in various parts of the city, especially in the Old City, are upset about dirty water coming from their taps. This problem has been going on for over a month, and complaints to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) have been ignored. The polluted water has led to many waterborne diseases. Residents like Mohammed Ahmed have shared pictures of the dark water on social media, showing the issue in areas such as Moghalpura, Shalibanda, and Sultan Shahi. Ahmed tagged HMWSSB, urging them to act, but no effective response has come from the department.
Ahmed continues to highlight the problem, but no action has been taken, with more areas such as Nampally, Tolichowki, Shaikpet, and Mehdipatnam reporting similar issues. In some places, like Gowliguda, residents receive black water, forcing them to buy water cans. K Srikanth, a resident, expressed frustration with the officials who claim the water is just muddy, not contaminated.
Karwan MLA Kausar Mohiuddin recently voiced concerns about water supply issues in a meeting with HMWSSB officials. He pointed out that people in Karwan have been suffering from irregular water supply for weeks. The water board admitted the problem and promised to fix it quickly.
In Begumpet, the water situation is also dire. Residents complained about discolored water with a chemical smell. A resident from Chikoti Garden questioned the safety of the water on social media, tagging HMWSSB for answers. Many others in the area have experienced similar issues, raising alarm about water safety.
