The Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) has ordered the Transport department to allow women to board buses first, in order to put an end to a superstitious belief. The OSCW received a complaint stating that bus staff in Odisha were preventing women from boarding first, believing it would bring bad luck. The commission found this practice to be irrational and discriminatory. A social worker named Ghasiram Panda filed the complaint, citing an incident at Baramunda bus stand in Bhubaneswar.
