Osmania University in Hyderabad has decided to keep its hostels open during the summer break from May 1 to 31, 2024. Normally, this time is when students leave for home or participate in activities outside of campus while the university does repairs and renovations. However, some students requested to stay on campus to prepare for competitive exams during this time.

The university administration agreed to keep the hostels open for these students who want to use the facilities for exam preparation. Earlier, a circular was issued by the chief warden stating that hostels and messes would be closed due to water and electricity shortages. However, the university later clarified that there were no such shortages and questioned the reasoning behind the circular.
