Osmania University will shut down all its hostels and mess facilities starting Wednesday as part of its scheduled summer break for postgraduate students.
The university made the announcement on Tuesday, stating that the closure aligns with the official academic calendar. During this break, the university plans to carry out repairs and maintenance in the hostel buildings.
The last meal served in the hostels will be dinner on Wednesday. After that, the mess services will remain closed until May 30. Students returning after the vacation can expect meals to resume with lunch on June 1.
University officials urged all hostel residents to support the decision and cooperate with the temporary closure. They emphasized that the maintenance work is necessary to improve living conditions for students.
This move comes amid increased campus activity and recent student protests, adding to the current tense atmosphere at Osmania University. However, officials clarified that the closure is strictly due to the planned vacation and facility upgrades.
