Osmania University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering recently made waves at the Soham Academy’s “Hack-A-Board Hackathon”. On October 4, 2025, two student teams progressed to the finals after impressing judges in the initial rounds.
The hackathon encouraged innovative student projects from various fields. Under the guidance of D.K.E.Ch. Vidyasagar, the teams showed remarkable creativity and skill, earning national recognition.
K. Harika and M. Venkata Jaideep Datta took the top spot, winning a Rs 10,000 cash prize. Their project, the Integrated Assistive Technology System for Paralysis Patients, captured the judges’ attention. It offers a comprehensive solution for enhancing mobility and independence for people with paralysis, using sensor feedback and easy-to-use controls to aid daily activities.
Another team, comprising G. Rajashree Padmavathi and Ch. Harsha Vardhan, received the Best Presentation Award and a Rs 2,500 cash prize. Their project, Redex – Wearable Hand Exoskeleton for Rehabilitation, impressed with its sleek design and effective support for regaining hand function through wearable technology.
These projects highlight the department’s focus on impactful engineering and interdisciplinary innovation. They underscore the importance of biomedical solutions addressing real-world challenges and the role of academic mentors in fostering student achievement.
